General

Claustrophobia?

Our cabins are 8 ft. long, 4.5 ft. wide, and 6.5 ft. tall. You’re always in control of your environment. Even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems. The tank’s door never locks, so you can always open and close it, or get out at any time. Controls for lights are in the cabin while you float; you are in control.

What type of tanks do you use?

All four of our float rooms are equipped with Pro-Float Cabins. They are tall enough to stand in, 4.5 feet wide and 8.5 feet long.

How long is a float?

We offer a typical float session that's up to 90 minutes long. But the first & last floats of the day in each tank may be up to 2 hours long.

You can always ask us for less time or if you want us to end your float earlier if you want.

Do I have to stay in the tank for the full session?

No. You may exit at any time as the door never locks or latches; you are in complete control. You can also leave the light on, or turn it off and turn it back on anytime.

Generally, however, once you get deep into it, people find the time can pass by quickly.

Sanitation and Safety

How is the water cleaned?

The water is cycled 3 times between every client, passing through an intense Micron filter for particulate matter and a UV light which zaps the DNA & RNA of bacteria, viruses, and algae. Ozone which is a natural element (O₃ - active oxygen) is also used. Commonly recognized as that fresh, sweet smell after thunderstorms, it is one of the most effective water purifiers. Ozone reverts back into oxygen after its use to create a bacteria-free environment in the water and the air.

Furthermore, the high concentration of Epsom salts with a miniscule amount of Hydrogen Peroxide disinfectant (H₂O₂) make the solution naturally sanitary. The tank environment is cleaner and safer than any pool or hot tub you’ve ever been in. We do regular maintenance to ensure the equipment is always working properly, and take water chemistry measurements on a consistent basis for quality control.

Can I float if I'm pregnant?

Of course! Floating is able to relieve the weight of carrying the baby off of the mother's body and can be a great help to those suffering from lower back pain. If you are in your third trimester or have any concerns, please consult a physician before coming in.

What if I fall asleep in the tank?

No problem! Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant that you stay afloat. The worst that can happen is you get woken up by a bit of salt water in your eyes.

Sleeping in a float tank has actually shown to be more restful than sleeping in a bed. Ongoing studies as well as anecdotal evidence have found floating to also relieve people suffering from insomnia and other sleep related ailments.

Whether you need to recover from jet lag after a long flight, or have been constantly woken up by a baby at night, a float tank is where you can catch up on some truly uninterrupted moments of rest.

Preparation

Is there anything I should do to prepare?

Don’t drink coffee for several hours beforehand (it can make your system jittery). Also, don’t shave or wax since the salt water can irritate your skin. Eating a light meal about an hour ahead of time stops your stomach from grumbling while you float. Other than that, there’s no specific preparation needed.

Do I need to bring a bathing suit or anything else?

No need to bring a bathing suit; all floats occur in private rooms. You may however want to bring a comb if you have longer hair. Also, something to put your contact lenses into while you're in the tank is a good idea. Other than that we provide everything you need (towels, earplugs, shampoo/body wash, blow dryer, moisturizer, etc...).

Can I float if I just got a tattoo?

No. Not only could floating with a fresh tattoo be painful but the water solution could cause fading or discolouration and permanently ruin the aesthetic appeal of your tattoo. We recommend waiting at least 4-6 weeks before floating after getting a new tattoo.
